Having a page from your website appear on the first page of Google for a particular keyword or phrase is an important part of your marketing mix. Do you look past the first page of Google when doing a search? It is very rare that I would ever look past the first page of Google results unless it was looking for a specific website that I already knew existed.

I liken this to appearing on the first page of the yellow pages for a particular category. Remember the business that would have AAA at the start of the business name so they could appear on the first page in that category. Well appearing on the first page of Goolge search results is very similar.

The answer is that you need to understand the process required to achieve this. The best situation for you to appear on the first page of Google is that you partner with a web developer that has this goal in mind in every aspect of your website development and it is not just an after thought once they tell you the site is ready to go live.

If they do not have the understanding and knowledge to get you onto the first page of Google then ensure they work closely with someone that does.
